Series Structure
The Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear has become the most visible platform for Formula Mazda racing. In this series the Formula Mazdas run in support races for the American LeMans Series (ALMS) with sanctioning by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA).
The ALMS headliner features exotic sports prototype cars, many of which can be seen at the world famous 24 Hours of LeMans, and showcases internationally-acclaimed drivers. ALMS races are schedule in Europe as well as North America. On our shores, the series stages nine events on such renowned road circuits as Infineon Raceway, Road Atlanta, and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca – all in major markets.
Sponsors of Formula Mazda racing, including Mazda Motor of America, have placed TV commercials within race coverage on Speed Channel to increase their exposure.
The Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear reaches a reading as well as viewing public. Several national publications, including SportsCar, Racer, Formula Car Magazine Grassroots Motorsports, and AutoWeek have featured Formula Mazda racing. Coverage also appears in local race media markets.
